The Seychelles are a toy chain of island in the Indian Ocean, east of Kenya and north of Madagascar. We flew from Los Angeles to Dubai, UAE on Emirates then connected to MahÄ—, Seychelles. The Captain on our flight from LAX to Dubai invited us to the upper level lounge for a glass of champagne and to let us peek into the first class cabin. The rumors are true! Each seat is it’s own personal and private pod with a fully stocked bar and first class has 2 full bathrooms with showers!

With over 20 hours of flying, we made it to our destination and it was nice to head straight to the beach and put our feet in the warm sand. We checked into our Airbnb which we use for all of our international vacations. We had a full day to explore the island before our cruise so we rented a car and started driving. All the beaches on the island are open to the public so we were allowed to enter all of the fancy private resorts for the use of their beaches.

The next day, along with only 42 other guests, we boarded our boat, “The Pegasus” with Variety Cruises. We were greeted by the friendly staff who offered us a tropical welcome drink. They showed us to our cabin where we quickly changed into our bathing suits so we could jump off the back of the boat for a swim in the clear, warm water. In the next 8 days we would visit 5 different islands.

We saw birds and giant tortoises who loved having their chins rubbed. We hiked, snorkeled, kayaked and spent time on our own private beaches. My favorite island was La Digue, which was colonized by the French in 1789. There are no cars on the island so we rented bicycles and rode past all of the plantation style houses. La Digue is famous for having the most beautiful beaches in all of the Seychelles.
